Witness the homecoming of two funny friends chatting about life, laughs and the latest book by one of these two favourite WA-made comedians.

Jon Doust’s first novel, Boy on a Wire was long-listed for the 2010 Miles Franklin, Australia’s most prestigious literary award. His third, Return Ticket, was temporarily derailed by 2020's lock-down.
Since the book's May release, the time has finally come to celebrate Return Ticket, following To the Highlands to conclude Doust's trilogy: One Boy's Journey to Man.

Join us for an hour (or so) chat between Doust and long-time comedy pal Wyatt Nixon-Lloyd as they delve into life, laughter and of course Doustie's books.

For Wyatt, having gone to make tele on the eastern seaboard, and Doust, hiding out in Albany to be an author, this event marks a long-awaited return to The Laugh Resort - the club Doust was a founding father of and where he started his stand-up comedy career (in 1991).

In his own words: "Back then Jon was not only younger and better looking, he was funnier. Come see the craggy, cranky old man as he does battle with a much funnier, better looking and considerably taller comedian".
It's time to witness the old man face the hard questions.

Jon Doust has been a comedian, journalist, keynote speaker, radio regular, festival organiser, community leader and now author for 187 years.
Wyatt Nixon-Lloyd is a WAAPA graduate, international comedian, singer-songwriter, ARIA winner, writer for The Project, and an old friend of Jon's.

With reduced (socially-distanced) capacity, seating is at unreserved tables of 4 to offer increased personal space. Groups 5+, email thelaughresort(at)gmail.com to reserve adjacent tables.

Limited copies of Return Ticket will be available on the day (thanks to our friends at Planet Books) or secure a copy with your ticket in advance and save 5 bucks off RRP.

WARNING: This book contains talk of dish washing. Not for the lazy-minded.

Tickets from Eventbrite or Facebook: Entry $15 / Entry + Book $40
Bookings highly recommended. Door sales (only if not sold out prior) from 5:30pm.

Ahead of Mental Health Week (10-17 Oct), some of Perth's finest established and rising star comedians will elevate our regular Wednesday night show to an evening of feelgood fun for a great cause - promoting positive mental health and well being.

FRINGE WORLD Award winner Joe White (as seen on Australia's Got Talent 2019) hosts newcomer and funny mum Deanna Corbett; accomplished festival performer Nicola Macri; and the ex-soldier, veterans advocate and punchline packing Mick Gledhill, headlined by the proudly neuro-divergent ‘King of Perth Comedy’ Werzel + more guests TBA.

With capacity greatly reduced, seating is at unreserved tables of 4 to offer increased personal space. Groups 5+, email us to reserve adjacent tables.

This event will be live-streamed and Auslan interpreted. If attending in person, choose an Auslan ticket for seats with the best view of our interpreter. All streaming tickets will have the interpreter on screen.

As always, every online ticket puts you in the draw to WIN a $50 voucher from our host venue.

If attending in person, make a night out of it with our new Dinner & Show for Two deal.
If watching remotely, look out for viewing details in an email after 6pm on show day.

This event is proudly supported by Western Australian Association for Mental Health, Mental Health Week WA and Lotterywest.

Check @thelaughresort on FB and IG for more 3rd-Wednesday-of-the-month show updates & other news.

Tickets from Eventbrite or Facebook: Standard $15 / Concession $12 / Dinner, Drinks & Show for Two $60

- Craig Quartermaine (ABC, NITV, Tonightly with Tom Ballard)
